In California now, I miss Asia but I sure did learn a lot about the different cultures.
I feel like a sociologist sometimes.

After we got to see how seaweed was made, we got to try on HANBOK’s. Traditional Korean attire from the emperical age. I felt so royal wearing it!

10AM

Experiencing Taiwan culture first hand! I have tried new food here ( such as the red carmelized fruit in pic)! Also won two drinks at the ring toss!$50 NT for a bucket- very cheap.

8AM

We went shopping here! The buildings are traditional-korean style. They had really cute cafes. Everyone here looked really trendy and beautiful +_+

4AM

LOTTE WORLD!

This is an amusement park by Lotte! Lotte is so crazy here. It is THE definition of a monopoly. They have amusement parks, malls, outlets, grocery stores, food products such as the kola cookies, vending machines, fast foods, hotels and more.

Bear bear bear!

Korea loves bears! They have a traditional folk story in says that Koreans come from this bear who became a human and got married to a God and made the first human.

The first picture are the bears from GOONG. This really cute Korean drama about this poor yet energetic girl who meets a prince who is a “cool guy”. Go watch it if you have not!

5AM

Plastic Surgery

Everyone always talks about how crazy plastic surgery it is in Korea. Its one thing to hear stories and one thing to actually see the culture first hand and learn more about where they are coming from.

When we went to Lotte World (an amusement park) we noticed that the children there looked significantly different from those that were older than 20+ They were ALL monolid and had different facial structure from the ones that were 20-30 years old! The 20-30 year olds look beautiful LIKE KPOP STARS. MEN AND WOMEN. But they all went through plastic surgery. It is the norm there for parents to save money for there children to get it.

Here is a lady I saw who just got her nose done and was out shopping. She had a metal nose bridge. Another lady had her face wrapped more extremely.

Our tour guide was telling us about the mentality they have. They think that having a “better face” can help you get a job, can give you more opportunities and a better future.

In high school, teachers will take girls aside and ask: "why don’t you put makeup on? It is disrespectful to yourself, the school and society. If you cant even wake up earlier and spend 20 minutes on your face, how are you going to ever be prepared when you get a job".

Makeup stories are everywhere which reflects this type of mentality! That I quite enjoyed hehe
